Xiaohua Ji


Ji Xiaohua, with the pen name of Ji Shisan, who has a PhD in neurobiology, is the founder of and As a science writer, he served as the editor-in-chief of the popular science book “When the Colorful Sound Tastes Sweet”, which won the 5th « Wenjin Book Award » organized by the National Library of China. He had been invited to write his annual review on « Turning Points 2015 » of The New York Times.

As an entrepreneur, Ji Xiaohua was awarded the National prize for many times in the field of science communication and education innovation. He was selected as Global Young Leader of the World Economic Forum. Not only Xiaohua devoted himself to promoting the revolution of knowledge spreading and acquisition pattern by utilizing the Internet innovative product but has done a remarkable work in promoting MOOC education in China.

Guokr – Chinese for ‘nutshell’ – was launched in 2008 as a social network for science geeks. It has since morphed into China’s largest social learning community with 1.2 million registered users from across the country. The MOOC Academy is one of Guokr’s most popular features. The platform provides access to online courses, in Chinese, for users who just need an internet connection. The partners of Guokr’s MOOC Academy include Coursera, edX, FutureLearn, Open Learning, and more.
